This was so simple and easy, and although that's not my mantle pictured above, hopefully it will soon be fully decorated and just as spooky, and festive.
Here are the simple directions found which I found at marthastewart.com along with lots of other fun ideas I will be doing throughout the month. You just need one package of black tissue paper, a bat template/or cookie cutter, and scissors.
